Isn't it funny how motivation can feel like rocket fuel one minute, then taper off quietly leaving you in the same de-motivated state as before the next? The roller coaster of motivation tends to suspiciously mimics the ebb and flow of commission based careers.
So what can you do to prevent this and avoid losing time when you just don't wanna do the things you know you need to do?
1. WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS DAILY
Thanks Grant Cardone! This tip alone has made a HUGE difference in my focus level. Try it. It feels silly at first and yes your family may giggle if they catch you doing it. But it is worth the long term rewards. Need help remembering to do it? See my next tip.....
2. CREATE 'SUCCESS HABITS'
I absolutely love habitforge.com for this. You can send yourself automated daily reminders to build up a positive habit. It also has built in accountability as it tracks your consistency. Their is nothing more embarrassing than admitting to a quiet email that you slacked off, ha ha. Enjoy!
3. GET AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER
If Habitforge isn't enough, enlist a stern friend for help with this. Ideally though you need to invest in a mindset coach because if motivation and other small hacks keep failing you---some intense work needs to be done.
4. IMMERSE YOURSELF IN POSITIVE INFLUENCES
Hide that drama queen/king cousin of yours who is always hollering about something off of your newsfeed or delete them altogether. That friend that constantly uses you as sounding board? Be busy and inaccessible to them while you get your work done.
5. WATCH LESS TV
Nothing good comes of this. The news and general tv tends to be filled with fear mongering, celebrity gossip and other useless drivel. If it's truly important you will hear people chat about it in daily life.
6. BUILD YOUR SELF CONTROL MUSCLES
Usually if motivation wanes in one area, it tends to mimic other areas as well. Go join the gym. You'll look better, feel better and it will leak into other areas of life.
7. SHIFT YOUR IDENTITY
THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR. Who would you be if you already achieved all of your goals? How would you act? How much confidence would you have? Imagine yourself as having achieved your GOALS ALREADY---while working on them.
